COLUMBUS – The Hallettsville Brahmas have seemed to peak at the right time

Hallettsville won its seventh game in a row by tumbling Columbus, 12- 0, in five innings on the Cardinals’ Senior Night Tuesday night, April 23.

Konnor Kopecky pitched a gem and went 4+ innings. Kopecky surrendered just three hits, walked two and struck out two.

Luke Henneke pitched in relief.

The Brahmas (19-6, 11-3) finished second in District 25-AAA and will play Universal City Randolph in bidistrict.

Following two scoreless innings, the Brahmas started putting up crooked numbers.

With one out in the third, Hudson Chenard drew a walk and Preston Wagner was hit by the pitch. Both advanced one base on a passed ball and scored on a Brock Bludau single to right field. Andrew George grounded out for the second out in the inning, Bludau scored on a wild pitch for a 3-0 lead.

A six-run fourth inning increased the lead to 9-0. It all started when Carter Blaha was safe on an error. Josh Griffin singled and with one out, a run scored when Preston Wagner’s fly ball was dropped in right field. Bludau made the Cardinals pay for the miscues with a RBI single. George ensued with base hit to score Griffin. Jorian Wilson was walked with the bases loaded. Monte Thigpen, Tanner Wagner and Griffin all drove in runs with hits to end the inning.

Three more runs were added in the fifth inning with Thigpen knocking in two with a single and Tanner Wagner the other with a base hit.

The Brahmas had 10 hits, left six on base and turned two double plays.
