Call it a car seat wellness clinic
Roughly a dozen locals turned out last week at Green Dickson Park to see if their child’s safety seat or booster seat was up to snuff and compliant with the current rules of the road in Texas.
The event was hosted by the Shiner Police Department, in partnership with the TXDOT Office in Yoakum, the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas AgriLife Extension Service and the Kaspar Foundation.
Shiner police brought hotdogs and refreshments for all who attended, as trained state inspectors went over every seat with the parents and children who use them.
“We hope to bring more activities like these for the community in coming months,” Shiner Police Chief Kevin Kelso said.
Be watching in coming days, both online and in the Thursday print edition of The Shiner Gazette, for news of city's first-ever National Night Out event information, set in early October for most places in Texas.
