Altar Society holding bake sale in Shiner this weekend

The annual Shiner Altar Society bake sale will be held in front of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner after each mass this weekend. Your support is greatly appreciated! Altar Society members are asked to donate baked items, canned goods, noodles, etc. Or a cash donation may be made at the sale or by mailing it to Carolyn Malik, P. O. Box 24 in Shiner. All proceeds help supply for the needs of the church altars.

Volunteers sought to help support expectant mothers

The Lavaca County Chapter of The Gabriel Project meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church’s “Mary’s House,” located at 300 S. Dowling St. in Hallettsville. Father Bryan Heyer to preside over Holy Hour at Raphael’s Refuge

The Rev. Bryan Heyer of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner will preside over a Holy Hour at Raphael's Refuge near Flatonia at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 23. The general intentions will be for those who advocate for life. All are welcome.

Natural Family Planning Class set March 26

Takes place in the Shiner Parish Activity Center from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Sunday, March 26. It is for all couples planning marriage before September and all who are interested. Couples are to pre-register by contacting Sharon Patek at (361) 594-3836.

Taste of Lavaca County at Wied Hall on March 26

The inaugural 2023 Taste of Lavaca County allows visitors to sample the cuisine of 25 local restaurants all in one place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 26, at historic Wied Hall. Entrance fee is $25 per person. Proceeds go to renovating the Old Shiner High School Gym.  The event is sponsored by the nonprofit Shiner Academic & Athletic Foundation. Lavaca Catholic Men’s Gathering meets every fourth Monday

Benediction and Adoration will begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 27, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Sweet Home with a meal and program to follow at the Queen of Peace Family Life Center, also in Sweet Home. Weekly men’s gathering continues

The Shiner Catholic men’s gathering meets 6:15-7:30 a.m. on Fridays inside the Shiner Parish Activity Center. 

Lenten day of reflection, adoration happens April 1 at St. Mary’s

“Come to me all you who are weary and burdened I will give you rest.”  This is a silent retreat and a day of fasting that takes place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Bread and water will be provided. Confessions are at 10 a.m.; mass/adoration at 11:10 a.m.; Angelus/Stations, noon; patriotic rosary, 1:30 p.m.; Divine Mercy, 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
