First, Shiner Fire Chief Billy Petru gave them each a nifty new fire helmets as their parents, Carlos and Stephanie Garcia smiled down at them.

hen they wasted no time at all doing what they were told when Petru said “Y’all go right ahead. You can climb wherever you’d like.”

Once there, it looks as though young Jazmine Garcia wasn’t all too impressed—in fact, she might be having second thoughts—while little brother Mason takes to it like a duck on a pond. He’s having the time of his life.

‘Tis the season for — fire safety presentations, of course! Which is why Shiner Volunteer Fire Department was out in force Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Shiner Market Days as they help spread the word each October, or as they otherwise know it, Fire Safety Month.
