HISD accepts bids, recognizes state qualifiers

The Hallettsville ISD board of trustees recognized state qualifiers and accepted bids among other things at its regular monthly meeting Monda, May 13.

The board approved a bid from Grafe Chevrolet-GMC for the purchase of a 2024 Suburban.

Since 2001, TERP has provided thousands of Texans with grant funding to purchase new vehicles.

There were other bids received on 2022 ($48,567) and 2023 ($50,167) models from Cavender Chevrolet-GMC in Weimar, but the board opted to shop local.

The FCCLA state qualifiers, the state champion track team and state qualifying golf team were introduced to the board.

The finance report showed that 96.42% of the 2023 taxes have been collected with an unpaid balance of $323,671.05.

The board considered and approved a threeyear contract with GoGuardian with a lock-in price of $33,143.04. The district will save $2,200 with the three-year contract.

Five HISD staff members were presented retirement plaques including Phyllis Kalich (20 years), Angelina Laqua (21 years), Jeanette Middleton (9 years), Cheryl Pavliska (22 years) and Kelly Schimcek (20 years).

Given the nod was payment of bills totaling $411,737.74.

At the March meeting, Kara Steward was hired as a EC-fourth grade teacher; Ashley Albrecht as a career Texas Education teacher - health science technical education; and Logan Lisenbea as teacher/coach.
