Folks from all Shiner got together the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Green Dickson Park in observation of the city’s inaugural National Night Out event.

All the emergency responder services in Shiner were represented including the Shiner Police Department, Shiner Volunteer Fire Department, Lavaca County Sheriff’s Office, Lavaca County EMS and Lavaca County’s Office of Emergency Management.

The Texas Department of Public Safety even showed up with its helicopter, letting anyone who wanted take a seat in the pilot’s chair.

“It was a great turnout,” Police Chief Kevin Kelso said. “We look forward to doing it again next year.”
