The Shiner Police Department is excited to announce that they will be joining forces with thousands of communities nationwide on Tuesday, Oct. 4, in celebrating the city’s first ever National Night Out events.

National Night Out was founded in 1984, with a focus on empowering residents to build tighter and safer communities by getting to know their neighbors and encouraging meaningful connections with police officers.

“We are highly encouraging everyone to take part in our inaugural event this year. We play to meet up at Fish & Game Building in Green Dickson Park beginning at 6 p.m. for some fun and fellowship,” Shiner Police Chief Kevin Kelso said.

Businesses are encouraged to participate and get signed up for this amazing opportunity for community outreach and camaraderie, he said.

“We can’t wait to see you all,” the police chief said. “And don’t forget to stock up on donuts! Kolaches work pretty well, too.”
