Shiner Volunteer Fire Department’s Training Capt. Tim Decker led local firefighters through a practice drafting operation on Wednesday, July 20, as part of a department-wide effort to get all firefighters officially certified to their respective roles.

Drafting is often used for large rural fires where water supplies are not readily available.

As pictured above, firemen can draft from a drop tank, from a tanker or from a local pond or swimming pool, if the need arose.
