Traffic stop near Flatonia results in arrest

In a recent news release from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, information regarding a drug arrest was reported.
On January 26, 2024, members of the Fayette County Undercover Narcotics Unit initiated a stop on a vehicle in the Flatonia area for a traffic violation.
The investigators observed numerous criminal indicators and requested a K9 unit be called to check the vehicle for narcotics. The K9 alerted on the vehicle and a probable cause search was initiated.
During the search, investigators located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. As a result, Esmeralda Valderas, 38, of Moulton, was arrested on felony narcotics charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Sgt. Randy Thumann and his K9, Kolt, aided in the investigation.
